2020, I am grateful for you! Words I’m not sure everyone is announcing this time of year. I want to be transparent, real, and offer you some of my inward reasons for gratitude in a year and season that has brought unexpected challenges, victories, intimacy, and renewal in ways I had no idea would unfold. I hope you glean a spark of gratitude this Thanksgiving, because it will truly transform your mind, your mood, and your world.
As a woman of faith, I have learned to make gratitude a practice in my everyday. I’m sure the lists mentally emerge when you pop out of bed struggling to find your cup of coffee, like mine do. Some days the list is easy to conjure up. Other days, I feel the pull and urge to go back to bed and cover my head so no one can find me. However, in those few days I redirect my thoughts and my mind on ALL THE THINGS I am so grateful for.
So today, here is my 2020 Gratitude Memoir – take from it some flicker of hope, inspiration, or merely a starting place to spark that unfound gratitude in yourself.
In a season where so much uncertainty, unknowns, fear, deceit, and things seem out of control, the most constant thing in my entire life is Jesus. He is my anchor, my hope, and the reason I believe my family and business are what they are. For Him, I am eternally grateful.
I am so grateful for my people. Family are the individuals who were ordained to be part of your life in the most intimate of ways. Family has a deeper meaning in this day, it’s one of the only things most important in this world. My marriage and amazing children are complete miracles to behold. I truly adore my husband and each of children truly shine like diamonds to me in ways they will never see. I love them each because of who they are, and they are amazing through and through.
MY BUSINESS + MY TEAM
I am so grateful for my job, the people I to work alongside, and the dear clients I get to serve. Not everyday is easy, but lives are impacted and beauty is emerging in the midst of it all.
My days are full of agendas, meetings, and installs, I live full to the brim, but I am so so grateful for the people that have surrounded me with their friendship and love. There are many I call friend, but there are few who truly know and love me in a way that touches my soul.
THE YEAR 2020
I am so grateful for this year. It’s been the most challenging, yet the most rewarding. It’s been the most unknown, yet the most successful. It’s been the most unexpected, yet the most dreamed of. It’s forced a creative way of thinking, intimacy with family, refocusing of what matters most, and has brought me to my knees in prayer unlike any other year. For this, I am truly grateful.
Today – you may find yourself in a season of sadness, not being close to family this year, not able to travel as expected, not having all you imagined at this time of year. But let me encourage you – your life alone is a reason to be grateful. The fact that you are able to read this post from an iPhone or a laptop is a reason for gratitude. Shift your mind, your way of thinking, and start your day thanking God for the things you DO have rather than wishing for the things you don’t.
Thank you for being my friend, client, and colleague. I am thankful for you…
