ONYX + ALABASTER
______
For those of you new to our Onyx + Alabaster journey, it all began back in 2011 when I first arrived in Nashville. After having been involved in the design world back in Austin, TX – I had no idea I would be doing design again. Much less even dreamed of owning my own design studio and home market.
Fast forward to 2015 when Onyx + Alabaster grew and moved into its first official space, an 800 square ft brick and mortar near the Factory in Franklin. Shortly after that, on my way to work one morning I drove by an old 1800’s cottage about three times the size of our current space. It was a little worn and weary, but full of potential. A quick phone call, a few small meetings, and a few days later I had a negotiated a lease and a move-in date! But wait, I also had a lease on our current space. However, by miraculous circumstances (and a lot of prayers!) we were fully released of our lease and soon we were under way updating the tired brick beauty into something modern and stylish.
As our space grew, so did our business. Soon, Onyx + Alabaster was able to grow into a full design studio, as well as add a home interiors market to the brand. Then 2020 happened. As we all know, this year has certainly been full of unexpected, both good and bad! In the midst of moving our own family (yes, we moved into a new home, more on that to come) my daughter Emma came across a building in Public Square… just around the corner from our current studio. I love real estate and am always intrigued by buildings – and was of course intrigued by a vacant building on the Main Street that offered historic charm and more space! I think you know where this is going… but within a few short months of negotiations – it’s official, Onyx + Alabaster is once again expanding into bigger and brighter things!
I’m so grateful to be able to say that 2020 has been our biggest year yet! Not only have we grown in design, we’ve also rebranded, redesigned our website, added new team members, grown our sales, and moving into the best space yet!! Our new location is a gorgeous remodeled historic building on the square in downtown Franklin. Honestly, a dream location for us…not only will it offer an extensive home market, a greater design studio, but (drum roll please) a cafe for a true design experience. Yes, a CAFE! Get ready to indulge in all the fancy coffee and delicate treats!
