HOSPITALITY + BUSINESS

How do you create a haven for both a country music artist and an oil painter that allows their young, growing family to connect and create? That was our challenge in this beautiful space. Creating a refuge that was still suited for entertainment and their busy lifestyle, alongside simple tastes + modern aspirations.
The palette and structure of their existing modern farmhouse eased our influence of design. We had a great starting point with simple features like white walls, built-ins, and high ceilings. We utilized their existing breakfast table and sofa to get started and then simply built upon that. Incorporating finishing touches like custom draperies and hardware balanced with key accents for built-ins and unique upholstery pieces. A neutral black, white, and grey palette helped make the space come to life.
The great room is the center of the home: incorporating the family room, dining room, breakfast nook, and kitchen. The space is wide open and perfect for gathering friends and family. One of our favorite features was the living space that extended outdoors through the double sliding doors onto the back patio.
When designing this space, the color white was key. We brought in white draperies, both inside and out, to keep the backdrop and palette simple. This allowed us to bring various textures and patterns within the rug and throw pillow choices.
One my favorite spaces to design was the sitting room. Designed for her, it offered a softer and more feminine space for gathering friends and enjoying quiet time or coffee.
Another fun part of this project was creating both a nursery and a young boy’s room. Designing for kids, we’re able to really get creative with color and patterns. The nursery was inspired by a friend’s photography of a highland sheep. We took the colors and textures of the photo and brought them outside to engage this little ones’ hands and feet. A textile rug and ottoman along with small shelf details creates an overall comfortable and inviting feeling.
All in all this project boasts of lot of furniture, simple design, and key elements for friends and family. I loved how it turned out and I know many memories have been made within these walls and to me that’s all that matters.
